Last posting for now----March 24 Palm Sunday

Today is a day of changing shift. Phoebe is here and she will stay here for the night to relieve 思瑜and 淑真.

Mom did well today. She did all her therapies in the morning. In the afternoon, she sat up in the wheelchair and we took her out to the elevator to see 101. At the entrance of the VIP ward, we took a photo with her. Mom is quite alert. When I spoke to her, she turned her head so as to hear what I was telling her. She nodded when I told her I am going home tomorrow. I told her I will see her at her home when I come in 3 weeks in April.

Phoebe will continue to update everyone from this room.

Adios for now and I will be back in April.

想唔想飲雞湯呀?---March 23

This morning 3/23(Sat), she saw all her therapists: OT, ST and PT before 10:30! She was fed by mouth the cranberry liquid, ugh!!!! 好難食! Sour and bad tasting....she did swallow slowly, we prodded her on....and she finished. The ST (weekend one) asked what she likes to eat?

I said something like 穆記牛肉麪....
Oh, then maybe she can sip some beef broth or chicken soup!! The ST said.....
I turned to Mom and asked her in Cantonese: 想唔想飲雞湯呀?
She nodded right away.....her eyes brightened!

Next, we need to ask Dr. Si if she can sip and swallow chicken broth for speech therapy!
She can share chicken soup with her two sons from now on!!

Here and there

Stephen is here, Phoebe is there. She is already here at the airport, and will come from there soon.

I am here, in Mom's room, and Joe and Stephen went there.....checking out the apartment to make plans.

Alice met us here this morning while she was there.

Last night, Adrian, Caleb and Ethan met us here while they were there! Caleb spoke to Tainainai and sang to Tainainai, though they were there and we were here!

Spring is here and spring is in this room---1116!

Mother slept well last night. When Masriah arrived, she suggested we take Mom out early to see this beautiful morning! We woke her up, put her in the wheelchair and off we went to see 101.

March 20, 2013

Highlight of today:

After her therapy (combined PT and OT) and a short rest, she was put in the wheelchair and wheeled out to see the beautiful indoor garden! This is her first trip out of her room since 2/9.....but her face was still serious without much emotion.....until when Pastor and Mrs.史 appeared! Her broad smile surprised all of us.

Since Dr. Si mentioned about a tentative discharge date, we have to consider Mom's home-coming seriously. We checked the rate of the bed, oxygen machine, vital signs monitors and bath chair. We compared purchase price and rental price. We will make the final decision when 鎮哥gets here tomorrow.

The acupuncturist will visit tomorrow for assessment.

First time sitting on the commode

During her PT time, she was adamant about standing, even wanting to go somewhere! We coaxed her back to lie on the bed. She frowned. Soon, her OT came. When her OT asked if she wanted to sit up, she nodded vigorously! We thought this Mom has a feisty spirit and strong-willed.....

Once she stood up and I stood in front of her, she suddenly spoke up: 我要去了.....(I have to go, can't hold anymore....*#%¥+) I was impressed by her clear speech!

Now she has her own commode next to her bed. The implication is that no more catheter and possibly no more diapers. That means it will be easier for her to come home! AMEN!
